About the Topic
Energy costs for processing, heating/cooling, and lighting have become an increasingly larger portion of plant budgets. Historically, these costs are volatile, resulting in difficulty meeting budgets. Even though natural gas has become an inexpensive commodity (at least right now), there are still ways to save money. This presentation reveals ways to save money (or at least not overspend) on the procurement of natural gas and electricity. Discussion includes natural gas market trends, methods of gas delivery, and price/risk management of natural gas costs. Discussion also includes ways to ensure you are purchasing electricity at the best possible rate. Most of energy overspending comes from unawareness of opportunities and pitfalls that exist in the energy procurement side. The goal of this presentation is to improve awareness of such opportunities.
About the Speaker
Norm Cox is a Director in the Account Management area at U.S. Energy. U.S. Energy is an energy management firm located in Plymouth, MN. Norm joined the firm in July 2006.
Norm manages a team of account managers that are responsible for client contact and support of energy management issues. Norm also manages the
Price/Risk Management area. In addition, he assists clients with ongoing energy supply management and procurement, price risk management and site development issues.
Prior to U.S. Energy, Norm spent 20 years working as an engineer in the industrial process heating industry. He specialized in improving his customers' product quality, production throughput, and energy usage. Norm holds a U.S. Patent for the design of an electrically heated gas convection oven.
Norm holds two Masters degrees. One in Mechanical Engineering, University of North Dakota and the other in Business Administration at the University of St. Thomas.
