Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways within NAPM-Twin Cities members can volunteer their time. Not only is this rewarding, but it is also a great networking opportunity and you can even earn ISM points (1 point or 7 hours per Committee, not to exceed 14 hours per year).
The Committees meet once a month for at least an hour. The meetings are either in person or via conference call. Monthly commitment can be anywhere from 1—3 hours.
Below are the Committees you can join:
Professional Development Committee
This is a great team of purchasing professionals that focuses on providing the best possible educational opportunities for our members to gain certification, recertification and knowledge of best practices across the industry. We strive to advance the purchasing profession through these educational opportunities. Additionally, our goal is to hold them at the most convenient times, in the most central locations possible for the majority of our members.
Marketing Committee
If you are a creative person, this is a way for you to exercise your creative abilities. The member works with local publications to promote all aspects of NAPM-TC. Depending upon expertise, the volunteer may write copy, design an ad or brochure, or work with a designated agency. Working closely with the other Committees, we also handle promoting the Supply Professional of the Year Award, Fall Conference, and other educational offerings. In addition, if you like web design, updating the web site is another opportunity to be creative.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee seeks ways to recruit and retain existing and new members. Examples of responsibilities include: assisting our Affiliate Administrator in contacting members for membership renewal, new membership orientation, new membership social events, membership drives and incentives. The Membership Committee also works with the Marketing Committee to develop membership materials. The Committee recommends policies, procedures, and initiatives to assure a growing and vital membership organization.
Fall Conference Committee
The Fall Conference Committee exists to promote the training of purchasing professionals at all levels of skill and ability. The goal is to develop a conference that will enhance the technical skills and breadth of professional knowledge by identifying trends, facilitate process sharing and promotes learning opportunities to develop and/or enhance specific knowledge and skills.
